February deep sea fishing palm beach FloridaPublished on March 19, 2019
Welcome to the Coastal Angler Magazine fishing forecast for February. Winter is in full-effect and the fishing is good. We have seen a good run of Sailfish through our waters and the Dolphin fishing wasn’t bad either. February is a great month for beach fishing for hard fighting Jack and Tarpon, also in the mix is the Spinner Shark migration. These aggressive creatures lurk close to shore and will eat anything in their path. They are a poor man’s Sailfish and will test any light tackle outfit. Expect leaps and spinning when hooked. Keep the drag loose for the first 5 minutes of the bite.. then lock it down! Get that guy in fast, they are a favorite food of the Great Hammerhead Shark. Believe me, the boss in the grey suit is just outside of the main school and he’s hungry.
The Offshore wrecks will hold some big fish this time of year. There are over ten wrecks just outside the Palm Beach Inlet and they’re marked very well on the charts. Expect Cobia, Amber Jack, Grouper and large Mutton, just to name a few. Pull out the big gear for this spot. Heavy leaders and leads will do the trick. Capt. Willis aboard the Sea-Note insists on a 30 ft plus leader to get the bite. He is a guru on wreck fishing. The secret is out!
Well,,, Good luck and tight lines my friends.
